Have you ever had to squint or put your nose up to the screen to read text? Of course, you can reduce the screen resolution to enlarge everything on the screen. But it’s a shame to have to sacrifice resolution to be able to read the screen.
I just ran across a couple of Control Panel configurations that can make it easier to read text while keeping the high resolution capabilities of your screen.
To enlarge text on the entire screen “permanently” (until you decide to change it):
- Launch the Control Panel
- Go to Appearance & Personalization section
- Select Display
- Select Medium enlargement (125%) or Larger (150%)
- You’ll need to restart your computer or log off before this change becomes effective.
To temporarily enlarge an area of the screen:
- Launch the Control Panel
- Go to Ease of Access section
- Select Ease of Access Center
- Click [Start Magnifier]
Keyboard shortcuts to Magnifier
[Win]+[=] – Turn on magnifier
[Win]+[+] – Zoom in
[Win]+[-] – Zoom Out
Close magnifier window to turn off.
