Is your Internet speed fast enough to support streaming video?
You can use these tool to find out.
It is generally accepted that you need a continuous speed (bandwidth) of at least 7 Mbps (mega bits per second) to support streaming video without interruption. 10-15 Mbps gives you a little leeway. If you have anything beyond that, you’re good to go for almost anything.
Definitions:
- Download speed – the rate information is sent FROM the Internet TO your computer. This is the significant test for viewing streaming video.
- Upload speed – the rate information is sent FROM your computer TO the Internet. This is always slower.
Test the speed of your Internet service here:
Different speed tests frequently give different results, so I give you several to try out. Some of these offer additional free or paid services like computer performance scans, for instance. Do not use these. Just run the speed tests. You may have to look closely to make sure you are running the speed test and not something else.
